Wacky Wednesday: Limerick-a-Zoomalong
Hello you brilliant peeps, the Boffins are back bringing you buckets more fun.
Let’s kick off the day with our Zoom Points slot. Every week, we think that we all should help out in the place we live or stay, by doing a chore or a wickedly good turn, just like Dorothy who joins us with her good turn.
To earn her Zoom Points this week, Dorothy is hanging out the Great Wiz’s smalls, and bigs too.
Hi there all you Zippedy Zoomers! It’s me, Dorothy Gale, zooming in from all the way over the rainbow. I thought I would say a great big Kansas Hiyah, to you all this week, from me and my little dog Toto too, oh and Aunt Em, she is giving you a wave. So this is me hanging out the washing, I wanted to help the Great Wiz, well he does so much for the Munchkins. The Wicked Witch of the East dropped his bag in, to our backyard, and when it’s dry, her broomstick will fold it up and take it home… here we go!

Dorothy was whizzed away to Oz in the middle of a tornado, which picked up her house and flew it away.
Now did you know that Kansas (where Dorothy lives) is part of an area in the United States called Tornado Alley! This is because the area has the most tornadoes in the country, where huge storms can be whipped up due to strong winds.
In fact, in America there are over 1200 tornadoes a year! You’d barely be able to keep your hat on!
Wowzers, fun facts are simply the best for our brainboxes, mine has got steam popping out of my ears . . . and now we have to get our tongues a-twizzelling, and warm them up, stick them out and give them a waggle…
Here are a few Zippedy Tongue-Twizzters?!
Tongue twisters are phrases which are especially complicated and difficult to say correctly! See how fast you can say these funny phrases without tripping over your tongue!
The sixth sick sheik’s sixth sheep’s sick.
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
A happy hippo hopped and hiccuped.
Peggy Babcock, Peggy Babcock, Peggy Babcock…
Betty’s big bunny bobbled by the bright blueberry bush.

Gravity Defying Water!
Here’s a wacky science experiment to make water defy gravity! This might be best to do outside to avoid any mess.
KIT LIST
- 1 Bucket
- 1 piece of card
- 1 glass half full of water
HOW TO
- Set the glass on a flat surface.
- Place the card flat on top of the glass and hold it firmly.
- Quickly turn the glass upside down. You might notice a little dribble of water escaping, but otherwise all the water stays put.
- Now take your hand away from the card. The card will stay stuck to the glass even though it isn’t attached, keeping the water inside!
- Now hold the glass over the bucket, and take the card away. You’ll see the water drop from the glass into the bucket.
Gravity tries to pull the water downwards towards the ground, but when you place the card over the glass rim, it prevents any air from getting inside which creates a vacuum keeping the card suctioned to the glass, and allowing the water to defy gravity. This experiment seems quite similar to a magic trick but it really is just simple physics!
Conkers!
In autumn, you can sometimes find conkers have fallen from horse chestnut trees. Conkers are the seeds of this tree, but they can also be turned into a funtastic game for two players!

Now here is a special message from those mischievous pair Tillie the Fairy and Eddie the Elf, they are missing each other very, very much and have decided to talk to each other through the zippedy internet.
What do you call an ogre who writes beautiful plays and sonnets?

Last week I wrote a poem about a Scottish bull on top of a hill.
It was a high coo!
Why do poets never have any money?
Because rhyme doesn’t pay!
Now it’s time to flop ourselves down onto a big bean bag or a comfy chair, chill out and listen to this week’s ZZZtime story, The Tale of Two Bad Mice by Beatrix Potter.
Wacky days Zoomers, that story was soo chilled, we are all very calm and happy in the lab.
Some of the Boffins are snuggled in their onesies drinking hot chocolate and mmmmmarshmallows and, I had better join the fun, before all the marshmallows mysteriously disappear.
